July 2026 Newsletter – Rare & Early Newspapers…

Welcome to the latest July, 2026 newsletter from Timothy Hughes Rare & Early Newspapers [1]. We are currently living under a “purple” air-quality alert, so this month we’ll just jump right in with our ongoing features:

  • New to Catalog 368: great issues added just this week. A few of the highlights include the Constitutional Convention begins & Washington is elected its President: a day after report, a first printing of one of Phillis Wheatley’s poems(?), great & rare political cartoon on the Boston Port Bill with 20 pages of discussion, a very prophetic statement on freedom… weeks after the Declaration of Independence… days prior to the Battle of Long Island, Benedict Arnold at Montreal and Ben Franklin steps down from local politics (both within the same issue), Colonies wish to declare themselves “free and independent”, Cornwallis surrenders at Yorktown, and more. (Quick Scan [2] or Full View [3])

Let’s not forget the most recent posts on the History’s Newsstand blog…

As always, thanks for collecting with us!
Sincerely,
Guy & Laura Heilenman & the entire Rare Newspapers Team
